Girls Flag Football
Varsity: Central Valley 24, Johansen 0
JV: Central Valley 18, Johansen 6
The Lady Hawks continue to peak at the right time as CV picked up their 6th straight WAC victory with a dominating performance against Johansen. The Hawks put up 24 points all through the air as quarterback, Abigail Krauss went 15-30 for 157 yards and 4 touchdown passes. Abigail was able to spread the ball around as 4 different CV receivers caught touchdown passes: Ayleen Apreza, Ruby Macias, Jazmin Carmona, and Mia Muniz. On the defensive side of the ball, the Hawks totaled 3 interceptions, 1 each by Ayleen Apreza, Airieana Martinez, and Damaris Cisneros. The win pushed the Hawks one step closer to a playoff berth as CV remains tied for 2nd place with a 9-3 WAC record. Ceres is also currently 9-3 and Lathrop sits atop the standings at 10-2 with 2 games to play. The top 3 clinch a playoff spot and last night’s upset win by Pacheco over Beyer opens the door for the Hawks. Beyer is now 7-5 so any Beyer loss or CV win will clinch a playoff berth for CV. The CV schedule will be a challenge as their last 2 games are against Lathrop and Ceres, the other top teams in the WAC. Good luck to our Lady Hawks as they look to finish the regular season strong.
