Varsity: Central Valley 9, Buhach Colony 1

The Hawks handled their business last night with a dominating 9-1 over the Buhach Colony to remain in a 1st place tie with Golden Valley with just 2 league games remaining.  CV goals by Alejandro García 4, Yahir Pérez 3, Andres Guevara and Enrique Lopez; assisted by Miguel Serrano 3, Julio Larranaga, Gilbert Zamora, Yahir Pérez, Andrés Guevara and Victor Macias. CV is now 18-6-1 overall, 9-1 in CCC play, and the 5th ranked team in SJS Division I.  The Hawks and Golden Valley Cougars are both 9-1 in league and have already split the season series with each other.  If both teams win out, there will be a share of the CCC title.  If either team slips up and the other runs the table, there will be a single champion.  The Hawks have also already clinched a playoff berth and will await the reveal of the CIF SJS playoff bracket that will post on Wednesday, February 7th.  The first round playoff game will be on Friday, February 9th with site and opponent to be announced with a 6pm start time.  I will update as the playoff picture comes into focus.  Good luck to our boys as they look to keep their 6 game winning streak alive with a game tomorrow vs. Merced at McNamara Park at 12:00pm and the season finale at Patterson High this Saturday at 2:00pm.

Varsity: Central Valley 4, Buhach Colony 1

At this late point in the season, every game has become a must-win for the Lady Hawks.  Central Valley (6-3-1 in CCC) came through with a much-needed 4-1 win over a solid Buhach Colony team.  The Hawks are in 4th place with just 2 games remaining and just 3 teams from the CCC will qualify for the playoffs.  As it stands today, Patterson is in 1st place at 7-0-3, El Capitan in 2nd place at 7-3-1, and Golden Valley in 3rd at 6-2-2.  The Hawks are just 1 point behind the 3rd place Cougars who will take on the 2nd place Gauchos on Thursday.  CV will have finish with 2 league wins or could possible still get in with at least a win and a tie (games against Merced and Patterson), but will also anxiously await the result of that crucial Golden Valley/El Capitan game on Thursday.  We will see how things play out over the next week.
