Girls Soccer

Varsity: Central Valley 1, Golden Valley 0

JV: Central Valley 4, Golden Valley 0

The Varsity Girls Soccer team picked up a huge CCC win last night against one of the top teams in the league.  In just the 8th minute of the game, the Hawks capitalized on a Cougar foul inside the goal box and CV buried the penalty kick.  This 1-0 lead would hold up the entire game as the Hawks stout defense turned away the Cougars all night.  This win puts CV in 2nd place and solid positioning in league. There will be 3 teams for girls soccer from the CCC that will qualify for the Section playoffs this season.  The Hawks have one more non-conference game vs. Oakdale next week, but do not resume league play until Thursday, January 4th when they host Buhach Colony.  The JV Hawks also picked up a solid win, with a 4-0 victory over the Cougars.

Boys Soccer

Varsity: Golden Valley 5, Central Valley 1

JV: Central Valley 2, Golden Valley 0

The Golden Valley Cougars showed everyone why they are now 10-0 on the season and the defending CCC champs, as they turned the Hawks away in this highly anticipated matchup.  Within the first 10 minutes of the game, the Cougars were able to put in 2 goals that were a result of some bad luck for the Hawks and good fortune for the Cougars.  Both goals came on defensive miscues, one of which bounced of the back of a CV defender.  This quick start by Golden Valley was too much for CV to come back from.  The Hawks did score in the 1st half to cut the lead to 2-1, but the Cougars picked up steam in the 2nd half and tacked on more scoring.  The Hawks won’t have much time to recover as they travel to Sanger High today to take on a solid program from the Central Section.  CV is still in 2nd place with a league record of 2-1 and an overall record of 9-4-1. There will be 4 teams for boys soccer from the CCC that will qualify for the Section playoffs this season.  The Hawks next CCC contest will be on Thursday, January 4th when they take on Buhach Colony at UC Merced.  The rematch with Golden Valley will be at CV on Tuesday, January 16th.
